Captain's Report from 11 August, 2026

Published Thu 13 Aug 2026

In her latest report on 11 August, our Club Captain, Rose Inglis, included the following items for members to take note of.

We have decided to postpone the Handicap Doubles tournament that was scheduled for next week. However, we have pencilled in a standard High-Low Doubles tournament for the week beginning 14 September. This will be a non-handicap event, open to all members, especially new ones. Details soon. It will be a good warm up for the Club Championships in November.

In place of the Handicap Doubles, we are planning another presentation from Tom Dixon with help from Ray, Jan and David. The tentative time is 12.00 Noon on Saturday 22 August. And the likely topic is playing the “tricky” shots in our GC game. This will be very helpful for our band of new members, as well as revision for the more established players!

This is also a last reminder if you would like to put your name down to play in the upcoming SE Metro Spring Competition, played weekly from 23rd September to 24th November 2026.  If there are enough names for the Advantage Competition, we may be able to have a second team, but this cannot be guaranteed until all clubs submit their forms. Final names must be in by this Friday, 14th August. The forms are on the notice board in the clubhouse, or contact me directly."
