Important: Introducing our "new" website

Published Wed 19 Aug 2026

Dear Members,

In my email on Monday I mentioned our “new” website: sandycroquet.org.au

If you haven’t looked at it yet, it would be good to check it out soon. There is one very good reason for that, mentioned below.

Background:

The “new” website is an enhancement of earlier work by Malcolm Bradbury on the free website provided to us by Croquet Victoria and RevSport.

It is anticipated that it will gradually become the principal means by which the Committee shares information with members. It will save you the bother of saving key files (such as the Members' Guide) in your own filing system or having to search through old emails to find the most recent version of these documents.

The RevSport platform offers significant potential for the club and the Committee asked Robin Boyle to investigate and incorporate useful options. Some work has been completed already and other options will be made available in various stages.

Why you should check it out:

The wording and setting out and selection of photos is largely the work of Robin and Malcolm, but everything might not be ideal. This is your website and so it's important that it is accurate and useful. So please be in touch suggesting any edits, corrections or improvements.

One good reason why you should review it is because there are many photos up there and there might be some you would prefer to have removed. Just let us know.

A tour of the website:

Here is the website again: sandycroquet.org.au

When you open it, check out the following links along the top:

  • Home: Scroll to the bottom to see the Latest News and Upcoming Events.
  • About: Is this an accurate description of who we are?
  • Contact: Any improvements?
  • Calendar: In the left/top section under “Category” you can toggle categories on or off to update the “Upcoming Events” that are shown.
  • Gallery: There are currently three galleries. Click on each and then enlarge the photos and scroll through. Additional galleries will be added.
  • Venue Hire: To be finalised
  • News & Reports: This is where a full list of updates from the Club Secretary and Committee members will appear.
  • Members: This will be a member-only page and you will need to log in occasionally (yet to be activated).

Note that direct links to the club's Facebook page and YouTube channel are at the very top of each page.

How easy will it be to use?

This will be up to you, but it can be amazingly easy and fast.

By having a “bookmark” or “favourite” on your browser or a “shortcut” or “icon” on your desktop or home screen you will be into the Home page with one click of your mouse or one tap of your finger. Within seconds you can be looking at the latest updates or forthcoming events.

Robin will prepare a cheat sheet on how to do that!

What’s next:

Soon you will be able to log into the Members' page. In the next few days you will receive an email giving you a username and asking you to submit a password. We’ll let you know how to do that.

Robin Boyle will continue to manage and work on the website while Malcolm Bradbury will keep the Calendar updated. You can contact them directly as needed:

Robin: robin@cicadabay.com

Malcolm: mjbradbury@hotmail.com

Please let me know, or contact Robin directly, with any concerns or suggestions.

Kind regards,

Rhonda
